How the brand score works.
The brand score combines three checks into one number from 0 to 100. F-VAL is the technical name. Here you can read what each check measures, how heavily it weighs and what it doesn't measure.
35 percent
Brand style
Does the text use your words, and does it sound like you?
What it measures
How many of your own words come back and how closely the text matches the voice profile from your own texts. If your brand has personality traits, Branddock asks an AI model whether the text shows them.
What it does not measure
Spelling, grammar and whether the content is correct.
45 percent
Strategy
Does another AI model find the text on-brand?
What it measures
An AI model scores seven points: grounding in your strategy, audience, recognizability, avoiding AI patterns, coherence, concreteness and taking a clear position. When creating, this model comes from a different family than the model that wrote the text.
What it does not measure
What readers think of it. It is the judgment of a model, not a measurement with your audience.
20 percent
Human
Is the text free of AI patterns, and does it follow your rules?
What it measures
AI patterns that give text away as machine work, and violations of your own brand rules, such as words you avoid and phrases that do not fit your brand. Counted per thousand words.
What it does not measure
Imagery, logo and color.
This is how the checks count by default. If your brand has no words of its own, no brand personality and no voice profile, then Brand style does not count, and its weight goes to the other two.
An example, without a score
A fictional brand writes: "Our solution is revolutionary and makes everything easier." Brand style checks whether the brand's words appear in it and whether the tone resembles their own texts. Strategy asks another AI model whether the sentence says anything about what the brand stands for. Human counts "revolutionary" as an AI pattern, and also as a violation if the brand has that word in its rules.
What we are still measuring
At the last switch of the assessment model, we calibrated the score with fixed test texts. How well it matches human judgment is something we are still measuring.
Frequently asked questions
Why is it called F-VAL?
F-VAL stands for fidelity validation: how faithful a text is to your brand. F-VAL is the technical name; in Branddock it is usually called the brand score.
Why does another AI model assess the text?
That way a model doesn't judge its own work. When creating a text, Branddock picks a model from a different family than the model that wrote it.
What if my brand does not have a voice profile yet?
Then Brand style only counts if your brand has its own words or personality traits. Without all three, its weight goes to Strategy and Human. Add five to ten of your own texts, and your brand gets a voice profile and Brand style counts.
