What this check does and does not do

The check reads metadata according to open standards: IPTC Digital Source Type (in XMP or ID3) and schema.org digitalSourceType. It does not recognize AI from the content itself. Metadata without a signature can be removed or faked. So a marking that is found tells you what the file says about itself, and is not proof.

Why this marking

The EU AI Act (article 50) requires that AI output is marked in a machine-readable way, and that you can check that marking. Branddock marks what it makes with AI. With this check you see what is in a file or on a page.
